After the driver picks you up at the hotel, you will be transported from Chinandega town to the rural area of La Bolsa where you will meet your guide and then you will take the road at the feet of the volcano to Las Rojas coffee farm, shortly and after some instructions by the guide you will start the hiking.
On the hike up you will pass by a small dry forest and a water spring, then you will enter the sandy road to the summit. After some time you will notice there is a dead forest on the ground, if you take a look you can see some these trees are petrified and some other you will smell the pine.
Sometimes the hike feels like never ending, the hot weather and the steep sandy trail makes it even more difficult, but the effort is worth, just some more steps up and you are at the summit with really wonderful views, the strong fresh air and the majestic active smoking crater.
The way back takes more or less the same time. At arrival at the farm you can take a short rest, take pictures and be proud to have achieved this difficult summit.
After the resting moment we will return to your hotel.

Volcano San Cristóbal is the highest volcano in Nicaragua at 1,745 m (5,725 feet). Located near to the northwest corner of the country, it forms a majestic backdrop to the city of Chichigalpa, Chinandega. It is also among the most active volcanos in Nicaragua, erupting frequently (if gently).
San Cristóbal is the youngest volcano in its complex. It is a nearly symmetrical stratovolcano, rising in a distinctive cone shape. The crater is 500 × 600 m in size. While the volcano was at one point covered in tropical forests, the large quantities of gas and smoke that it emits constantly have killed off much of the vegetation.
San Cristóbal remains quite active, continuously expelling copious amounts of gas and smoke. As recent as September 2009, ash was falling in nearby towns. In September 2012 it erupted again, spewing ash up to four kilometers (2.5 miles) into the atmosphere, resulting in the evacuation of around 3000 people in the surrounding area. A further eruption took place, starting on the 25th of December 2012 and continuing into 2013, causing the evacuation of hundreds of locals.
